Free The Antenna!!!

Help Pass The HOA Legislation
To Eliminate HOA Prohibitions on Amateur Radio Antennas!!!

Free The Antenna!!!

HOW CAN I HELP?

By sending a letter to each of your Congressional Representatives and your Senators. Is my individual letter important? YES — Representatives and Senators rely on constituent input to decide which bills to support. Your voice counts.

BACKGROUND

The ARRL has secured Congressional support in both the U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate to introduce legislation that, if passed, would eliminate HOA/private land-use restrictions that prohibit Amateur Radio operators from installing antennas at their residences.

WHAT ARE THE BILLS?

U.S. House: H.R. 1094
Introduced by August Pfluger (R-TX) and Joe Courtney (D-CT)

U.S. Senate: S. 459
Introduced by Roger Wicker (R-MS) and Richard Blumenthal (D-CT)

UV-K5 V3 & UV-K1 Web Tool; Firmware flasher and calibration manager.

Firmware flasher and calibration manager via Web Serial API

Note:

This application requires Chrome/Edge/Opera.
Make sure your radio is in DFU (flash) mode before flashing.

New release: F4HWN For Quansheng UV-K5 and The NEW UV-K1 (Kong Mini)

 Warning!

THIS FIRMWARE HAS NO REAL BRAIN. PLEASE USE YOUR OWN. Use this firmware at your own risk (entirely). There is absolutely no guarantee that it will work in any way, shape, or form on your radio(s); it may even brick your radio(s), in which case, you'd need to buy another radio.

Anyway, have fun.

About this firmware

This firmware is a fork of the F4HWN custom firmware. It extends the initial work for the UV-K5 V1 (DP32G030 MCU) and adapts it to the newer UV-K1 and UV-K5 V3, which are based on the PY32F071 MCU. It is the result of joint work by @muzkr and @armel.

This first release, called the Fusion edition, combines all the different editions Armel previously released for the UV-K5 V1 into a single firmware.

My first Hotspot is landing tomorrow.

MMDVM hardware and software is at the core of most digital mode hotspots on the market. The success of the MMDVM Project comes from countless hours of work by different people and projects going back to the earliest days on D-STAR.

MMDVM now supports D-STAR, DMR, YSF, P25, NXDN, POCSAG, and even analog. This project has become a truly wonderous open source project.

What Is Rattlegram?

Have you ever thought of sending messages using sound? Not your voice, but actual encoded sound waves? Meet Rattlegram, a fascinating new way to transceive short UTF-8 text messages using COFDMTV-encoded audio signals.

Developed by the team at aicodix GmbH, Rattlegram brings together advanced digital signal processing and clever open-source software to let your phone do something truly unique: send and receive messages through sound, much like how old-school modems used to—but way more modern and mobile-friendly.

What Is Rattlegram?

Rattlegram is an innovative app that turns your smartphone into a two-way audio communicator for text. It uses a method called COFDMTV (Coded Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing with Time Variation) to encode text into sound. Your phone’s microphone and speaker become the only tools needed to “hear” or “speak” messages.

You can try it out yourself on both iOS and Android:

    Overview of Q Codes?

    Overview of Q Codes
Q codes were developed to facilitate communication among radio operators, especially in situations where language barriers exist. Each code begins with the letter "Q" and can represent either a question or a statement, depending on the context. Here are some of the most common Q codes used in amateur (ham) radio communication:
    Common Q Codes

QRA: What is your station name? / My station name is [name].

QRB: What is your distance? / My distance is [distance].

QRC: What is your true bearing? / My true bearing is [bearing].

QRL: Are you busy? / I am busy.

QRN: Are you troubled by static? / I am troubled by static.

QRM: Are you experiencing interference? / I am experiencing interference.

QRQ: Shall I send faster? / Send faster.

QRT: Shall I stop sending? / I am stopping sending.

QRU: Do you have any messages for me? / I have no messages for you.

QTH: What is your location? / My location is [location].

QSL: Can you acknowledge receipt? / I acknowledge receipt.

QRZ: Who is calling me? / This is [your call sign].

    Usage and Importance

These codes help streamline communication, making it easier for operators to convey essential information without lengthy explanations. They are particularly useful in emergency situations or when operating under poor signal conditions. Understanding and using Q codes can enhance the efficiency of radio communication and help operators connect more effectively.

For a more comprehensive list of Q codes and their meanings, you can refer to resources like the ARRL (American Radio Relay League) or other amateur radio handbooks.
